‘The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still’
Many within my circle have walked next to me while I needed to be still.
I know this verse was not written specifically FOR ME, but I identify with it more than I want to admit. In my humanity, I find the word, litigous a perfect adjective to describe moi. (sheesh)!
Judicious, rights-fighter, contentious, salty. Oh— and pot stirrer— lest I forget that descriptor.
My personality trait manifests itself like this:
(sitting in a meeting) A little voice says, “don’t say it Jo Ann— DO NOT say it”…..
(sitting in a family gathering) My husband looks at me with ‘the keep -it-shut- look’.
(disagreeing with an email or directive) Jo Ann’s manifesto #4532 is waiting for me to click on ‘send’.
I taught the book of Exodus to a small group of friends and this verse hit me between the eyes. I am sure I had read it before– after all, it was an account of the Israelites in distress as they faced an impossible situation as they stood in front of the Red Sea.
Does this verse have anything to do with me? If I believe the Bible is God’s Word, as they say in North Dakota, YOU BETCHA!
All Scripture (not some, Jo Ann) is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof (you need to be reproved!) for correction, (you need correction!) for instruction in righteousness; (that applies too!) that the man of God (me) may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works. 2 Timothy 3:16-17.
